Juice Fasting & Raw Foods: The most effective weight loss plan!

All these diet fads, operations, torture devices, and pills are all a waste of time, waste of money, and can cause you harm.  Most diet plans don’t last either.  Well the good news is that the solution to all this is adding juice fasting and raw foods (fruit, vegetables, and nuts) to your diet, but be sure you are not allergic to anything first.

In America we can see that the entire population is getting more and more overweight, but we all think it’s a normal part of getting older.  It’s NOT.  It’s a normal part of building up fat and toxins. It doesn’t have to be that way. We don’t have to get cancer or have all these health issues. Adding more raw foods and juicing is only a switch to consuming what we as humans are supposed to be eating.  All the processes to cook or preserves these foods lowers the quality and benefits of those foods.  The farther we get from the point of taking the food directly form nature, the more degraded it becomes.

Variety of fresh raw fruit and vegetable JuicesToday more and more people are realizing that juicing is the way to go. Personally everyone I ever knew that juice fasted has lost weight and kept it off.  It really is as simple as buying a good juicer and juice fasting occasionally and eating more raw foods. Now we are not talking about raw meat. Fruit Veggies and nuts.

It’s just stupid that everyone doesn’t realize how well juicing works. The logic is simple…

  1. juice fasting means getting a super charge of what your body really needs and you don’t expend as much energy digesting.  In turn this frees up your system to remove more toxins and fat.
  2. your body can prevent disease, cancer, and a clogged system if it’s getting useful materials as opposed to garbage.
  3. If your system is cleaner then your body functions as it did when you where younger and thus you also lose weight faster.
  4. You are taking in materials that digest better and faster as opposed to materials that turn into fat and sit there.
  5. The materials your body gets from fresh juice heals your body in many ways and you begin to function better and live longer.
  6. Juice fasting is how Hollywood actors lose weight fast for a role.

You don’t need crazy dangerous pills when juice fasting and eating more raw foods is far more effective and safer. Those guys are stealing your money. Don’t buy crazy diet pills.

Do the research. I can’t possibly put enough information in this article to convince anyone. You really gotta Google more sites and watch a number of Youtube videos from people who’ve actually tried it.

Healthy Fit WomanHow much do I need to Juice and how much raw food should I add?

This depends on how much you need it. Most people can just juice fast for a few days every couple of weeks and replace a few meals per weak with raw foods and/or juice.  But, if you are in dire need of help and are more than 100 pounds overweight then you should go all out vegan for awhile.

You do have to be careful about juice fasting too much. Some people do feel odd for a period of time during juice fasting as you detox but then you come back form that and feel great.  There’s pros and cons so you just don’t want to go too nuts with it. Do the research on this site as well as others and Youtube.

What about taste?

In my personal experience most of the stuff you can make will taste really good. Even green juices can taste pretty good if you add lemon, ginger and/or mint.  You will most likely run into a few things that taste bad, but most drinks taste better than anything you can buy in the store.  Just be sure to drink it right away or store it in the fridge for only a day or so in a totally air tight container filled to the very top.

Don’t go too nuts and mix too many ingredients together. Melons should be juiced by themselves and greens should go together.

How long will it take?

It will surprise you that you will lose weight almost right away. If you juice fast periodically but also make sure to juice or eat just raw foods (not meat) for 40-60 percent of your daily meals then you should reach your ideal weight within a year or so depending on how overweight you are.  Obese individuals may require more intense changes along with an increase in exercise. Remember you are not really dieting or depriving yourself because you are just switching to eating the foods we humans where always meant to eat and you can eat as much as you want of these foods.

Beautiful Young Girl Juice FastingWill it stay off?

For most people it will. Once you adopt this to your lifestyle, you realize how easy it is to lose the weight so if you do start to go off the wagon then you simply do another juice fast and quickly regain.  Basically everyone I know who’s tried juicing has stayed thin.  You don’t starve yourself so there’s no rebound effect. There’s no crazy pills getting your system out of whack and most of those are deadly. Stay away from the pills. You don’t need them.

The cost?

Even more good news. The cost is less than any of these diet plans, pills and surgery. Not only that your food costs will go down over time and you’ll have more money to spare. You do have to buy a good juicer which will run you $100-$300 and you may need more than one type of juicer to be able to juice everything or supplement with a personal sized $20 blender. You’ll have to replace that juicer every 1-3 years but in the long run you save money. You also save on health costs later on. It’s not just for weight loss. Your whole body becomes healthier.

Why doesn’t everyone do it?

Good question. It works so well that it’s really stupid that we all just don’t know to do this. It should common knowledge.

Here are some reasons…

  • I think people just don’t know the logic behind juicing and raw foods
  • They are afraid of the taste. Like most foods there’s good and bad but most of it tastes REALLY good. Once you know what to avoid then it’s all good.
  • Just the fact that it’s advertised in a medical way as a diet.
  • A juicer is expensive for most people.
  • People follow everyone else and everyone else is eating whatever they want thinking that it’s just normal behavior.
  • It’s not easy to adopt juice fasting in a work environment
  • Pills, surgery, and strange devices are advertised so much that Juicing couldn’t possibly be the answer right?

I think mostly people just simply don’t know.  When I was first told about it..I totally ignored the advice. It wasn’t until I really started researching and looking into it that I wanted to change what I eat. I didn’t need to lose that much weight but I tried it and it worked.

Again, you really should Google more sites and I’m certain this site is not the first one you came across. And you should watch a number of videos as posted on this site or on Youtube itself to really see what it’s all about.

So the answer is really as simple as juicing and raw foods, but you don’t have to become a vegan. Just adopt this diet as much as you need to based on your situation.

The bottom line is, yeah the pizza and burgers are great but your body is healthier and functions better on the materials it really needs.

Function of Food Enzymes

Raw foods provide the body with live enzymes which are protein molecules that play a role digesting food, building protein cells in the bones and skin, aiding in detoxification and weight loss.

Enzymes in raw foods are destroyed by heat:

Most raw food is very perishable so when raw foods are exposed to temperatures above 118 degrees, they start to break down.  Enzymes help us digest our food.

Cooking destroys food enzymesOnce enzymes are exposed to heat, they are no longer able to provide the function for which they were designed. Cooked foods contribute to chronic illness, because their enzyme content is damaged and thus requires us to make our own enzymes to process the food. The digestion of cooked food uses valuable metabolic enzymes in order to help digest your food. Digestion of cooked food demands much more energy than the digestion of raw food. In general, raw food is so much more easily digested that it passes through the digestive tract in 1/2 to 1/3 of the time it takes for cooked food.

Eating enzyme-dead food also places a burden on various organs, which eventually exhausts them. Many people gradually impair their pancreas and progressively lose the ability to digest their food after a lifetime of ingesting processed foods.  Symptoms of digestive enzymes depletion are bloating, belching, gas, bowel disorders, abdominal cramping, heartburn and food allergies.

Food that will help heal the Pancreas:

  • Blueberries
  • Cherries
  • Broccoli
  • Garlic
  • Red Grapes
  • Red Reishi Mushrooms
  • Spinach
  • Tofu
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Yogurt
  • Tomato Soup

Raw foods and digestive enzymes:

Enzymes are needed for the digestive system to work. They are necessary to break down food particles so they can be utilized for energy. The human body produces about 22 different digestive enzymes which are capable of digesting carbohydrates, protein and fats.

Sprouted seeds

Sprouted foods and enzymes:

While all raw foods contain enzymes, the most powerful enzyme-rich food is sprouted seeds, grains, and legumes. Sprouting increases the enzyme content in these foods enormously.

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead | A Joe Cross Film (2010)

Watch for free on HULU   (as of this posting)

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead Review:

I’ve watched this film and I’d have to say it is one of the best illustrations of how and why juicing and raw foods can bring you back into a healthy status. The film uses real life examples of how converting to a raw food diet can bring your weight down fast and save your life. I myself only make juicing and raw foods about 40-60% of my diet, which is just enough for me to get healthy again. We are all so used to believing the typical American diet is OK that we don’t really question it.  While much of that food should be enjoyed (in my opinion), you should also include enough juicing and raw food to stay healthy and fit.  Getting old doesn’t have to include disease and weight gain.

If you are serious about getting healthy then this is the only film you need to watch and currently you can find it for free on Hulu.com or at a low cost on Youtube movies or Netflix.

Synopsis:

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead - Joe Cross100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn’t end well- with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn’t far behind. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe’s personal mission to regain his health. With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long-term, Joe turns to the only option left, the body’s ability to heal itself. He trades in the junk food and hits the road with juicer and generator in tow, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for the next 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe has one goal in mind: To get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle. Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead - Joe CrossWhile talking to more than 500 Americans about food, health and longevity, it’s at a truck stop in Arizona where Joe meets a truck driver who suffers from the same rare condition. Phil Staples is morbidly obese weighing in at 429 lbs; a cheeseburger away from a heart-attack. As Joe is recovering his health, Phil begins his own epic journey to get well. What emerges is nothing short of amazing – an inspiring tale of healing and human connection. Part road trip, part self-help manifesto, FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD defies the traditional documentary format to present an unconventional and uplifting story of two men from different worlds who each realize that the only person who can save them is themselves. Grapes: Health Benefits

Grapes grow wild on vines or are cultivated. They are believed to be native to northwest Asia although they have been grown throughout Europe and the United States for centuries. The seeds, skin, leaves, stems, and grape itself are used in herbal remedies. At times in the past, diets consisting solely of grapes have been touted as an alternative means of treating cancer. Some chemicals found in grape extract (called proanthocyanidins) and in grape skins (called resveratrol) are currently being studied for possible uses in the prevention and treatment of cancer and other illnesses.

Other common name(s): grape diet, grape cure, grape seed extract (GSE), grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE), grape seed oil, grape skins, proanthocyanidins, oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), resveratrol

Scientific/medical name(s): Vitis vinifera, Vitis coignetiae

Antioxidant Benefits

Grapes are extremely high in antioxidants. In fact the number of different antioxidant nutrients are well into the hundreds ranging from common carotenoids like beta-carotene to unusual stilbenes like resveratrol. It is the resveratrol content in red wine that makes a glass a day so beneficial to one’s longevity. The seed and the skin contain the richest concentration of these antioxidants.

Research on antioxidant benefits provided by grapes includes the following findings:

  • help prevent certain oxygen-related enzymes from becoming overactive. These enzymes include xanthine oxidase and catalase.
  • increase our blood levels of glutathione (a critical antioxidant nutrient) and also increase the ratio of reduced-to-oxidized glutathione (one important measure of antioxidant capacity).
  • help protect cell membranes from free radical damage.
  • lower levels of oxygen reactive molecules in our blood.
  • reduce oxidation of fat (lipid peroxidation).
  • lower biomarkers of oxidative stress.

Anti-Inflammatory Benefits

Grapes provide us with strong anti-inflammatory benefits.

Cardiovascular Benefits

The cells in our blood need protection from potential oxygen damage. This is especially true for our arteries where oxygen concentration in our blood is especially high. Our blood vessel linings also need strong antioxidant support. Chronic inflammation in our cardiovascular system is also a primary concern for many types of cardiovascular disease, and optimal regulation of inflammatory system activity is especially important in lowering our risk of atherosclerosis and other conditions.

It’s also one of the reasons that consumption of grapes in the form of red wine has been regarded by some researchers as a key for understanding “the French Paradox.” The French Paradox refers to research observations about heart health in the French population in relationship to their saturated fat intake. Despite eating fairly large amounts of saturated fat in their overall diet, the French population as a whole has been observed to have much lower levels of heart disease than would be expected with high saturated fat intake.

All of the following cardio benefits have been demonstrated in research studies on grapes and grape components:

  • better blood pressure regulation, including blood pressure reduction if high
  • better total cholesterol regulation, including total cholesterol reduction if high
  • reduced LDL cholesterol levels
  • reduced LDL oxidation
  • reduced levels of reactive oxygen molecules in the blood
  • reduced likelihood of cell adhesion to the blood vessel walls
  • less clumping together of platelet cells, when inappropriate
  • enhanced release of nitric oxide from endothelial cells lining the blood vessel walls in situations where vasodilation is needed
  • better inflammatory regulation in the blood
  • increase levels of glutathione in the blood

Blood Sugar Benefits

Studies now show that grapes improve blood sugar balance, create better insulin regulation, and increased insulin sensitivity. Strong phytonutrient content of grapes plays a key role in providing these blood sugar-related benefits.

Anti-Aging and Longevity Benefits

Several grape phytonutrients may play a role in longevity and may provide us with anti-aging benefits. Resveratrol has recently been shown to increase expression of three genes all related to longevity. (These three genes are SirT1s, Fox0s, and PBEFs.) Some researchers have shown a connection between activation of these longevity genes by resveratrol and activation by calorie-restricted diets.

Cognitive Benefits

Daily consumption of Concord grape juice in a 1-2 cup amount over a period of several months has been shown to improve the scores of study participants on the California Verbal Learning Test.

Anti-Microbial Benefits

Recent studies have determined that grapes may also contain unique sets of oligopeptides which are short protein-like molecules that have anti-microbial properties. Research in this area is in early stages. It will be interesting to see whether diets that are rich in grapes (or grape products like red wine) turn out to be associated with reduced risk of microbe-related problems like food-borne illness.

Anti-Cancer Benefits

Resveratrol found in grape skins, has been reported to convert into a cancer fighting agent that can target and attack cancer cells. When juicing grapes you should include the skins and the seeds but thoroughly rinse them if they are not organic to remove any possible traces of herbicides or pesticides that are often sprayed on the crops.

Grapes contain high levels of natural sugars and so people with sugar sensitive conditions such as Diabetes or Candida should take care not to consume too much grape juice.

The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of grapes make them a natural for protection against cancer because chronic oxidative stress and chronic inflammation can be key factors in the development of cancer. If our cells get overwhelmed by oxidative stress (damage to cell structure and cell function by overly reactive oxygen-containing molecules) and chronic excessive inflammation, our risk of cell cancer is increased. By providing us with rich supplies of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients, grapes can help us avoid this dangerous combination of chronic oxidative stress and chronic inflammation.

One interesting development in the research on grapes and colon cancer prevention has involved studies on GADF, or grape antioxidant dietary fiber. Fiber is greatly needed for a healthy colon, and grapes provide us with approximately 1 gram of fiber in every 60 calories. Antioxidants are also needed, and grapes come through strong in the antioxidant category. This antioxidant-plus-fiber combination may be one of the reasons that colon cancer prevention has jumped out in health research on grapes. In the area of prostate cancer, it is the stilbenes (including resveratrol) have been the major focus in research on the anti-cancer properties of grapes.

Several epidemiological studies have shown that populations that consume diets rich in fruits and vegetables have an overall lower cancer incidence. Based on these encouraging observations, research efforts from across the globe have focused on identifying, characterizing, and providing scientific basis to the efficacy of various phytonutrients in an effort to develop effective strategy to control various human malignancies.
