Goji Berries | Why are they so beneficial?

What are Goji Berries and why is it so powerful?

Goji Berries in raw form taste great either as a snack or on a salad.  You can easily find some at a Whole Foods and if you haven’t tried them then I would recommend grabbing a bag. They are a bit expensive but worth it. They really do taste quite good.

Goji berries are a bright orange-red berry that comes from a shrub that’s native to China and in Asia, goji berries have been eaten for generations in the hopes of living longer.  Scientists have discovered the Goji Berry to be one of the most nutritionally dense fruits on the planet.  Goji Berries contain special polysaccharides which fortify your immune system and are responsible for controlling your body’s most important defense systems. Scientists attribute most of goji’s amazing health properties to these special polysaccharides

Over time, people have used goji berries to treat many common health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, fever, and vision problems. Goji berries are eaten raw, cooked, or dried (like raisins) and are used in herbal teas, juices, wines, and medicines.

History of Goji Berries:

Goji BerriesSome early Himalayan healers recognized the power of the goji berry and utilized the goji vine which flourished in the valleys of the Himalayas for thousands of years. These healers shared their knowledge of the goji berry and its powerhouse nutritional properties with the herbalists of Tibet, China, and India, who in turn took goji berries back home with them where they continued to spread the word about their nutritional power.

There are many varieties of goji berry, grown in many parts of the world, and as the popularity of the berry continues to grow, more and more varieties will likely appear as the vine is cultured for mass profit. But the most powerful and nutrient rich goji berries still come from the vines of Himalayan mountain valleys.

What Are the Benefits of Goji Berries?

Research shows that eating berries of any type offers some definite health benefits. Berries are filled with powerful antioxidants and other compounds that may help prevent cancer and other illnesses, including heart disease. Antioxidants may also boost the immune system and lower cholesterol.

Eating foods high in antioxidants tends to slow the aging process by minimizing damage from free radicals that injure cells and damage DNA. When a cell’s DNA changes, the cell grows abnormally. Antioxidants prevent the destructive power of free radicals and in doing so they help reduce the risk of most serious diseases.

Many studies using goji berry juice founds benefits in mental well-being, calmness, happiness, quality of sleep, and feel healthy.
