How to Store Your Juices

What’s the best way to store your juices and how long can you store them?

The best advice is to NOT store your juices at all since the best quality and nutrition exists right after you juice. Every minute your freshly juiced food is exposed to air it starts to oxidize. Exposure to light will also degrade the juice.

Let’s say you really need to store your juices for later consumption. You will want to use any method you can to make sure there is no air in the container and you should use glass or stainless steel and fill the juice to the brim. Let it overflow if needed to minimize air in your container.  Mason Jars are typically used to store juices. Store your juice in a fridge.

Low RPM Juicers vs Centrifugal Juicers produce less degraded Juice and thus store better.  The taste of the juice is better too.

How long can you store the juice?

This will depend on the type of juice, conditions of the juicing process and quality of the food prior to juicing. All these things will effect how quickly your juice will degrade once stored. Typically no more than 24 hours. At best 72 hours, but after that forget about it. I would not even recommend more than 48 hours to be honest. Citrus juices will last longer than green juices or tomato juice. Do not attempt to freeze your juices. I know you where thinking that. The freezing process destroys the juice.

(added)

People do freeze their juice or attempt to but degradation of the nutrients still occurs and by freezing you are not only changing the taste once thawed but also degradation still occurs and the color and texture is different. Some juices, like apple cider, will last longer. Freezing should be a last resort at best.

“Pasteurized juice” with preservatives can be stored longer and is what you find at your local store however the pasteurization process destroys most of the nutrients. It’s still healthier than many alternatives but the taste is not as good and will not give you the health benefits of fresh juice.

You can buy certain frozen juice at the store, however you do not get the nutritional benefits and they typically contain more sugar and preservatives.

What you can freeze

You can however freeze the veggies and fruit BEFORE they are juiced. Once juiced you really need to drink it right away. The idea behind fresh juice vs store bought is that the nutritional value and taste is vastly better.

Grapefruit Juice for Weight Loss

Grapefruit juice aids in more efficient metabolism of sugars and has a high fiber content with a low glycemic load.  It has been proven that a person can eat large quantities of food without consuming too many calories by choosing foods high in fiber and water content such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and soups.

In a study by the Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center at Scripps Clinic, researchers have confirmed that the simple act of adding grapefruit and grapefruit juice to one's diet can result in weight loss. The grapefruit diet has been around since the 1930s.

Grapefruit juice also enhances the body’s absorption of coQ10, an energy compound vital to our cells and boosts the anti-cancer effect of certain drugs.

Scientific study: A U.S. study looked at the benefits of grapefruit by dividing 100 obese people into three groups: one group was given half a grapefruit before each meal, another had a glass of grapefruit juice, while the remaining third had no grapefruit.

Red grapefruit

After 12 weeks, those eating grapefruit had lost an average of 3.6lb and those drinking grapefruit juice lost an average of 3.3lb. But those in the control group who consumed no grapefruit lost only an average of 0.5lb.

Juice Fasting & Raw Foods: The most effective weight loss plan!

All these diet fads, operations, torture devices, and pills are all a waste of time, waste of money, and can cause you harm.  Most diet plans don’t last either.  Well the good news is that the solution to all this is adding juice fasting and raw foods (fruit, vegetables, and nuts) to your diet, but be sure you are not allergic to anything first.

In America we can see that the entire population is getting more and more overweight, but we all think it’s a normal part of getting older.  It’s NOT.  It’s a normal part of building up fat and toxins. It doesn’t have to be that way. We don’t have to get cancer or have all these health issues. Adding more raw foods and juicing is only a switch to consuming what we as humans are supposed to be eating.  All the processes to cook or preserves these foods lowers the quality and benefits of those foods.  The farther we get from the point of taking the food directly form nature, the more degraded it becomes.

Variety of fresh raw fruit and vegetable JuicesToday more and more people are realizing that juicing is the way to go. Personally everyone I ever knew that juice fasted has lost weight and kept it off.  It really is as simple as buying a good juicer and juice fasting occasionally and eating more raw foods. Now we are not talking about raw meat. Fruit Veggies and nuts.

It’s just stupid that everyone doesn’t realize how well juicing works. The logic is simple…

  1. juice fasting means getting a super charge of what your body really needs and you don’t expend as much energy digesting.  In turn this frees up your system to remove more toxins and fat.
  2. your body can prevent disease, cancer, and a clogged system if it’s getting useful materials as opposed to garbage.
  3. If your system is cleaner then your body functions as it did when you where younger and thus you also lose weight faster.
  4. You are taking in materials that digest better and faster as opposed to materials that turn into fat and sit there.
  5. The materials your body gets from fresh juice heals your body in many ways and you begin to function better and live longer.
  6. Juice fasting is how Hollywood actors lose weight fast for a role.

You don’t need crazy dangerous pills when juice fasting and eating more raw foods is far more effective and safer. Those guys are stealing your money. Don’t buy crazy diet pills.

Do the research. I can’t possibly put enough information in this article to convince anyone. You really gotta Google more sites and watch a number of Youtube videos from people who’ve actually tried it.

Healthy Fit WomanHow much do I need to Juice and how much raw food should I add?

This depends on how much you need it. Most people can just juice fast for a few days every couple of weeks and replace a few meals per weak with raw foods and/or juice.  But, if you are in dire need of help and are more than 100 pounds overweight then you should go all out vegan for awhile.

You do have to be careful about juice fasting too much. Some people do feel odd for a period of time during juice fasting as you detox but then you come back form that and feel great.  There’s pros and cons so you just don’t want to go too nuts with it. Do the research on this site as well as others and Youtube.

What about taste?

In my personal experience most of the stuff you can make will taste really good. Even green juices can taste pretty good if you add lemon, ginger and/or mint.  You will most likely run into a few things that taste bad, but most drinks taste better than anything you can buy in the store.  Just be sure to drink it right away or store it in the fridge for only a day or so in a totally air tight container filled to the very top.

Don’t go too nuts and mix too many ingredients together. Melons should be juiced by themselves and greens should go together.

How long will it take?

It will surprise you that you will lose weight almost right away. If you juice fast periodically but also make sure to juice or eat just raw foods (not meat) for 40-60 percent of your daily meals then you should reach your ideal weight within a year or so depending on how overweight you are.  Obese individuals may require more intense changes along with an increase in exercise. Remember you are not really dieting or depriving yourself because you are just switching to eating the foods we humans where always meant to eat and you can eat as much as you want of these foods.

Beautiful Young Girl Juice FastingWill it stay off?

For most people it will. Once you adopt this to your lifestyle, you realize how easy it is to lose the weight so if you do start to go off the wagon then you simply do another juice fast and quickly regain.  Basically everyone I know who’s tried juicing has stayed thin.  You don’t starve yourself so there’s no rebound effect. There’s no crazy pills getting your system out of whack and most of those are deadly. Stay away from the pills. You don’t need them.

The cost?

Even more good news. The cost is less than any of these diet plans, pills and surgery. Not only that your food costs will go down over time and you’ll have more money to spare. You do have to buy a good juicer which will run you $100-$300 and you may need more than one type of juicer to be able to juice everything or supplement with a personal sized $20 blender. You’ll have to replace that juicer every 1-3 years but in the long run you save money. You also save on health costs later on. It’s not just for weight loss. Your whole body becomes healthier.

Why doesn’t everyone do it?

Good question. It works so well that it’s really stupid that we all just don’t know to do this. It should common knowledge.

Here are some reasons…

  • I think people just don’t know the logic behind juicing and raw foods
  • They are afraid of the taste. Like most foods there’s good and bad but most of it tastes REALLY good. Once you know what to avoid then it’s all good.
  • Just the fact that it’s advertised in a medical way as a diet.
  • A juicer is expensive for most people.
  • People follow everyone else and everyone else is eating whatever they want thinking that it’s just normal behavior.
  • It’s not easy to adopt juice fasting in a work environment
  • Pills, surgery, and strange devices are advertised so much that Juicing couldn’t possibly be the answer right?

I think mostly people just simply don’t know.  When I was first told about it..I totally ignored the advice. It wasn’t until I really started researching and looking into it that I wanted to change what I eat. I didn’t need to lose that much weight but I tried it and it worked.

Again, you really should Google more sites and I’m certain this site is not the first one you came across. And you should watch a number of videos as posted on this site or on Youtube itself to really see what it’s all about.

So the answer is really as simple as juicing and raw foods, but you don’t have to become a vegan. Just adopt this diet as much as you need to based on your situation.

The bottom line is, yeah the pizza and burgers are great but your body is healthier and functions better on the materials it really needs.

Goji Berries | Why are they so beneficial?

What are Goji Berries and why is it so powerful?

Goji Berries in raw form taste great either as a snack or on a salad.  You can easily find some at a Whole Foods and if you haven’t tried them then I would recommend grabbing a bag. They are a bit expensive but worth it. They really do taste quite good.

Goji berries are a bright orange-red berry that comes from a shrub that’s native to China and in Asia, goji berries have been eaten for generations in the hopes of living longer.  Scientists have discovered the Goji Berry to be one of the most nutritionally dense fruits on the planet.  Goji Berries contain special polysaccharides which fortify your immune system and are responsible for controlling your body’s most important defense systems. Scientists attribute most of goji’s amazing health properties to these special polysaccharides

Over time, people have used goji berries to treat many common health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, fever, and vision problems. Goji berries are eaten raw, cooked, or dried (like raisins) and are used in herbal teas, juices, wines, and medicines.

History of Goji Berries:

Goji BerriesSome early Himalayan healers recognized the power of the goji berry and utilized the goji vine which flourished in the valleys of the Himalayas for thousands of years. These healers shared their knowledge of the goji berry and its powerhouse nutritional properties with the herbalists of Tibet, China, and India, who in turn took goji berries back home with them where they continued to spread the word about their nutritional power.

There are many varieties of goji berry, grown in many parts of the world, and as the popularity of the berry continues to grow, more and more varieties will likely appear as the vine is cultured for mass profit. But the most powerful and nutrient rich goji berries still come from the vines of Himalayan mountain valleys.

What Are the Benefits of Goji Berries?

Research shows that eating berries of any type offers some definite health benefits. Berries are filled with powerful antioxidants and other compounds that may help prevent cancer and other illnesses, including heart disease. Antioxidants may also boost the immune system and lower cholesterol.

Eating foods high in antioxidants tends to slow the aging process by minimizing damage from free radicals that injure cells and damage DNA. When a cell’s DNA changes, the cell grows abnormally. Antioxidants prevent the destructive power of free radicals and in doing so they help reduce the risk of most serious diseases.

Many studies using goji berry juice founds benefits in mental well-being, calmness, happiness, quality of sleep, and feel healthy.

Goji Berries Contain:

  • 19 Different Amino Acid
  • More Vitamin C Than Oranges
  • Wide Variety Of Antioxidants-best source of carotenoids of known foods

  • Vitamin E
  • Essential fatty acids
  • Betaine

  • Protects the liver
  • Helps eyesight

Do Goji Berries Have Side Effects?

There may be some possible herb-drug interactions. If you take warfarin (a blood thinner), you may want to avoid goji berries. Goji berries may also interact with diabetes and blood pressure drugs.  Also, if you have pollen allergies, you may want to stay away from this fruit. However, when eaten in moderation, goji berries are safe. Ask your doctor if you have any questions.
